Well, Emerging Writers Festival Brisbane is all over red rover. So it goes. I hope everyone had a blast in our fair city, be ye strangers or locals. We go alright, yeah? Besides technology stuff ups and freak hailstorms/heat waves, I mean. How great is Jam Jar, by the way, those of you who were at the Spelling Bee? They used to do this amazing vanilla/apple/cinnamon french toast business on fancy bread for breakfast, and I didn’t get to try it before they changed the breakfast menu and I am going to be sad about it forever.
FOREVER!
My favourite event – despite our deranged city deciding it wanted to make EVERYTHING SUMMER RIGHT NOW (No Brisbane it is Spring you silly you have to wait okay) was the Writing on Writing event at Avid Reader. It was pretty amazeballs. First James aka Mr Host was really nervous and sweaty because it was A Zillion Degrees and it was pretty cute. Then there was a pigeon attack and everyone was really really insightful and knowledgeable, and Krissy got her tweet up in that business and Chris Currie said “mad props” and everyone laughed at him. Oh, and Karen Pickering was like I DON’T LIKE THE ROAD I AM JUST SAYING and Avid Reader was like OH THE HELL SHE JUST DID. If you weren’t there you’re kicking yourself now, aren’t you?
I had to go to Lawrence Leung’s comedy gig and then a Jezabels gig and then pancakes afterwards (and when I say “had to” I mean “I wanted to and it was a really swell night actually even if the Jezabels didn’t even play “She’s So Hard” what’s that about”) so I missed the Spelling Bee, but I hear everyone had a lot of fun. Commenters, feel free to confirm/deny for the sake of accuracy.
So what now? Well, you can always fill in the EWF: Brisbane survey. Pretty please?
Meanwhile, on an completely related note…
